We all know pollution is bad, for rivers and oceans, the ozone layer, and the air we breathe, for the flora and fauna, and for us. Now, studies show the impact pollution is having on our world.
The first global analysis of pollution shows that pollution accounts for 16% of deaths worldwide. Pollution-related diseases caused an estimated 9 million deaths in 2015. Of those deaths, about 92 percent were in low and middle-income countries.
The number of deaths caused by pollution is three times more than those who have died from AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria combined. More than almost any other serious cause of death.
Reducing pollution is as important to saving our planet as it is to saving our lives.
