About

Hi, I’m Ashley.

Hi, I’m Ashley.

I’m a media specialist and editor based in Longmont, Colorado, originally from Spotsylvania, Virginia.

I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, with a degree in Mass Communications with a focus on print journalism and Italian. While there, I worked with the Capital News Service program, reporting from the Virginia General Assembly and publishing stories across newspapers, magazines, and websites throughout the state. I edited for CNS for one semester and wrote for the program for the following two years.

In 2009, I studied abroad in Italy through VCU, spending a semester at the Università per Stranieri di Perugia in the Umbria region. While there, I wrote a regular column about my experiences studying language and culture for a student-run magazine.

After graduation, I joined Hopewell Publishing Company as a copy editor and page designer. Over time, I also took on reporting, photography, and video work, and eventually managed production of a weekly arrest publication. I also worked in advertising design and was part of a newsroom-wide redesign focused on stronger digital storytelling and social media presence.

In 2016, I moved to Colorado to pursue a master’s degree in journalism at the University of Colorado Boulder, along with a certificate in Environment, Policy and Society. My focus was environmental journalism, specifically sustainability in food systems, and I also developed skills in multimedia storytelling using video, audio, and Adobe Creative Suite.

During that time, I interned at Active Interest Media with Clean Eating and Vegetarian Times, where I gained experience translating print content into digital formats.

In 2018, I worked with Live Naturally Magazine as a digital production assistant, helping adapt print articles for web and managing social media content across platforms.

Later that year, I joined Digital First Media as a page designer and copy editor, working on daily newspapers across Colorado and beyond, including the Boulder Daily Camera and the St. Paul Pioneer Press. After being laid off during COVID-19, I took on freelance work while also working in independent contracting roles.

In 2021, I returned to full-time editorial work at PYMNTS as a copy editor and digital production manager, where I edit and produce digital content focused on the finance industry, starting with editing everything from survey instruments to final report PDFs, and producing landing pages, article pages, and contact forms for publication, ensuring accuracy every step of the way. With web production, I focus on driving on-page SEO with keyword optimization to maximize organic traffic.

In 2024, I fell back in love with reading and began applying for and receiving Advanced Reader Copies (ARCs), reading new releases before publication and engaging with upcoming titles through reviews and reader feedback. This helped deepen my understanding of audience response and narrative impact, and led me into beta reading manuscripts, where I provided feedback on story flow, character dynamics, and overall effectiveness.

From there, I naturally moved into editing and proofreading, drawing on my background in editing and content production. Today, I help refine written work by improving clarity, structure, and narrative flow so stories feel cohesive, engaging, and ready for publication.

I enjoy working on thoughtful, detail-driven editorial and content projects, and I’m always open to new opportunities.

Thanks for visiting, and I hope you enjoy my work. Feel free to reach out with any questions or project inquiries.
