Seicento Baroque opens season this weekend in Boulder, Longmont
The Seicento Baroque season opens this weekend with a focus on Colonial Latin America. The music is primarily from composers in Spain and Portugal, with a fusion of indigenous works. This is the sixth season of performances from the ensemble.
The concerts will be held in Denver on Friday at the St. Paul Lutheran & Roman Catholic Church at 7:30 p.m., Boulder on Saturday at the First Methodist Chirch at 7:30 p.m., and Longmont on Sunday at the Stewart Auditoriam at 3 p.m.. Future performances by the ensemble include shows in December and March. The cost for all Seicento Baroque shows are between $10 and $25. Boulder Chorale opens 51st season
The oldest and largest community choral organization will be opening it’s 2016-2017 season with a show this weekend focused on women, with music for and about women.
“Women’s Work” will be performed on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Boulder, with special guest Dominique Christina. The performance will also be held Sunday, at 4 p.m.. Tickets are between $5 and $20.
The Boulder Chorale as a few other shows planned for the year: A holiday show in December called “A Thousand Beautiful Things,” “Boulder Chamber Chorale Goes to the Library,”in February, and “Bluegrass Mass” in March.

“United We Stand” Festival and Debate to be held Tuesday
Denver’s own hip-hop group the Flobots is set to perform Tuesday at the Mackey Auditorium at the “United We Stand” Festival and Presidential Debate.
The event will feature third-party candidates for the presidency, as well as numerous performers and speakers. Presidential candidates Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Jill Stein and Gary Johnson were also invited, but have not been confirmed participants.
The event will feature Bob Marley’s son Ky-Mani Marley, Nelson Mandela’s grandson Kweku Mandela, former wrestler and governor of Minnesota Jesse Ventura, and Ed Asner, president of the Screen Actor’s Guild known for his part in the Mary Tyler Moore show.
