COLONIAL HEIGHTS — Former City Council member Betsy Luck will be joining the council once again.
In the election on Tuesday, Nov. 4, Luck beat out the two other candidates running in the race for the empty City Council seat, Dave Bucciarelli and David Hoopsick.
Luck received 1,405 votes out of 2,836, with Hoopsick following behind with 974 votes, and Bucciarelli receiving 241 votes. There were 17 write-ins.
“I’m just humbled and honored to serve the city again. Excited to be back on council and to do whatever I can to make Colonial Heights the best it can be,” said Luck after hearing the results of the election.
Luck previously served on the Colonial Heights School Board from 1993 until 1998, serving as chairman from 1996 to 1998. In 2000, she was elected to City Council and served until 2012. For the last four years of her time on council, she served as Vice Mayor.
Luck left the council in order to focus on her teaching career, from which she has now retired.
