COLONIAL HEIGHTS — What began as just catering has grown into a new family-owned restaurant in Colonial Heights. Loggy Bottom BBQ, named after a small area in Southwestern Virginia, opened Feb. 1, bringing the taste of famous North Carolina barbeque to the area.

“The name came from where my parents were from, it’s not a city just a little area in southwestern Virginia,” said Baker.

The restaurant uses a special family recipe with their barbeque, which is a combination of Virginia and North Carolina tastes.

Baker’s family is from southwest Virginia, in a place called Loggy Bottom, and her husband’s family is from North Carolina. Their recipe at Loggy Bottom is a combination of the two family recipes. The restaurant smokes its own pigs and also serves a variety of other choices.

The business recently held its grand opening on March 21, and is located at 2231 Boulevard.
