COLONIAL HEIGHTS — Police are seeking suspects involved in an incident that occurred around the 200 block of Wright Ave in Colonial Heights.
On Sept. 7, Rose Elder was inside of her home when she heard her grandson outside yell that a dog had Pippen, the boy’s cat. Elder went outside to find that an unleashed pit bull had attacked the cat and the two were still involved in a scuffle.
Two other dogs were also involved in the incident but were on leashes which the owners could not control.
In trying to free the cat from the dogs, Elder was injured on her hand.
The cat escaped the three dogs and ran under a car, where it died shortly after the attack.
Colonial Heights Police Capt. Wayne Newsome said there were two individuals at the scene who are assumed to be the owners of the pit bull and the two leashed dogs. The two left the scene after the attack and were last seen heading down Roanoke Avenue.
Police are seeking information in the two suspects in the attack. According to Newsome, one was a white male in his late 20s to early 30s, with shoulder-length dark and curly hair, with no facial hair, wearing a white shirt. The other suspect is a white female, also in her late 20s to early 30s, who was short and stocky with red hair. The suspect was wearing a blue shirt with jeans. The pit bull in the incident is described as being a rusty color.
