PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George recently welcomed a new business that will help community members experience less pain and stand a little straighter.
Divine Spine Chiropractic, located at 4205 Crossings Blvd, is run by Dr. Braheem Tolbert and his wife, Latasha. Tolbert became interested in chiropractic work following a car accident a week after he graduated high school.
During the crash, Tolbert injured his neck and back to the point where doctors said he would not be able to run. Tolbert was entering college on a track scholarship, and this would cause him to lose his chance to perform. But this prognosis didn’t stop Tolbert from finding a solution.
“I was an optimistic person, and I didn’t feel like that was the most optimistic track for my life, so I had my lawyer refer me to a chiropractor, and the rest is history,” Tolbert said.
Tolbert was previously a dental specialist in the Army, and the new location is right down the road from Fort Lee.
“I decided to open here because we wanted to first and foremost impact the military,” Tolbert said. “I figured what a great way to come back and serve fellow soldiers than by opening up within shouting distance from Fort Lee.”
The office held a grand opening ceremony on September 16, with community leaders and members filling the office to celebrate. The practice is currently accepting patients of all ages, with the goal of helping the community feel better.
“I’m really humbled to see this vision that my wife and myself had turn into this,” Tolbert said. “I want to community to know that we look forward to serving them. You don’t have to live daily with these aches and pains, because we’re here to help.”
