COLONIAL HEIGHTS — School Superintendent Joe Cox presented a budget update for the 2016-2017 school year at the School Board meeting on January 27.
The presentation showed an increase in revenue for the school system, with a net increase of $1,841,214. This includes city funds in the amount of $601,021, state funds in the amount of $984,887, and federal funds of $75,955.
The presentation also showed a pay increase for employees of the school system of $487,580, which would average at a 2 percent increase per employee.
The presentation also noted that there was no projected increase in employee contributions to health insurance policies.
The board will hold a work session on February 11 to discuss the budget further.
