COLONIAL HEIGHTS — The School Board gave its final approval for the five-year Capital Improvement Project plan, which details every renovation, addition, or any expensive project which needs to be done in the school system.
The plan was originally presented at the Nov. 17 school board meeting by Assistant Superintendent Troy Hedblom. The CIP includes approximately $15 million in projects. Each project in the CIP is more than $200.000 to complete. The CIP also includes a list of renovations or additions to any school or school-related project.
The CIP for the school system will be introduced to the Colonial Heights City Council for approval, and the board hopes for an appropriation of funds during the next council meeting.
The main project that has been at the top of the list of projects for the school system is the renovations of the science and biology labs at Colonial Heights High School. This project will cost the school system $1,523,600. Once funds are appropriated, work on the science labs will begin. Work on this project has been delayed due to the wait on closing the Kroger deal.
