CHESTERFIELD — A resident of Chesterfield County was sentenced 20 years in prison on Tuesday for sexually molesting two young girls in 2012 and 2013, adding on to his 30-year sentence in federal court.

Lawrence Paul Sayers, 33, was charged with aggravated sexual battery, attempted object sexual penetration, and taking indecent liberties with a minor. The charges stemmed from two events and two separate minors. The first was in 2012, when he molested an 8-year-old girl while driving her for a birthday event. The second happened in 2013, when he molested a 9-year-old female at his house during a children’s sleepover.

Chesterfield Circuit Judge Harold W. Burgess Jr. sentenced Sayers to 55 years, with 35 of those suspended. Sayers was sentenced to 30 years in federal court in December 2012 for charges of production of child pornography. The Federal Bureau of Investigation seized two cell phones and a micro SD card, on which they found approximately 40 images and five videos depicting an eight to nine-year-old female engaging in sexual acts.

Sayers has a history of experiencing physical, emotional and sexual abuse throughout his life, which may have contributed to his indecent actions. As a child, he was physically and verbally abused by his stepfather, and sexually abused by his stepsister. At the age of 26, Sayers suffered an aneurysm to his spinal cord which left him partially paralyzed.

During his 50-year incarceration, Sayers will receive mental and sex offender treatment.
