COLONIAL HEIGHTS — Each year in November the Colonial Heights School System presents the School Board with a Capital Improvement Project five-year plan, which details every renovation, addition, or any expensive project which needs to be done in the school system.
At the Nov. 17 School Board meeting, Assistant Superintendent Troy Hedblom presented the CIP to the board, which included approximately $15 million in projects. Each project in the CIP is more than $200,000 to complete.
The delay in the sale of land to Kroger caused complications for the school system which put them two years behind schedule. Now that the Kroger deal has gone through, projects in the school system may begin. The Kroger store would bring a boost in tax revenue for the city in addition to the sale price.
The CIP for the school system will be sent to the Colonial Heights city manager for approval.
These projects include:
Renovation of Science and Bio labs at the HS: $1,523,600
North Elementary School student drop off/pick up and parking lot: $450,450
