PRINCE GEORGE — The Crater Criminal Justice Academy teamed up with Olympians from the Tri-Cities Special Olympics on Wednesday at a special event to raise money for the 2014 Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Special Olympics.

The first Blue Balloon Bash was held at the training academy, located off of County Dr. in Disputanta. Those attending the event were able to purchase water balloons for fifty cents apiece, which were thrown at staff, instructors, and students of the academy.

In all, 2,500 balloons were filled and thrown at the human targets. Also in attendance at the event were representatives from Prince George and Hopewell Police Departments.

The event also marked the end of training for the 83rd Basic Law Enforcement Academy, which began training on April 1, and will graduate on August 29.
